Online tensiometers, systems for collecting information and data on the water absorption power of plants through their roots, which we manufacture after many years of research and practical experience in the field, in order to schedule the proper irrigation of plants in field crops, orchards and greenhouse vegetables.
When the tensiometer readings reach the appropriate predetermined value, you will know that it’s time to irrigate. Mottes was the first company in Israel to start producing this technology (RTS) as early as 2004, for the purpose of online monitoring of soil water tension and plants’ needs for water and fertilizer. Today this technology is known as “cloud technology” or IOT (Internet of Things).
Our customers use the technology to measure soil water tension levels and ensure it is suitable for plant growth rates, development and the effect on the yield obtained at the end of the process.
This is easy-to-use online software that receives continuous information from the tensiometers and presents you with all the data in an application on your smartphone and computer. This becomes an important economic tool when using irrigation water for agriculture, due to the significant cost of water. The technology helps you ensure that the plants have sufficient water
for consumption, while at the same time ensuring that water is not wasted.
It is also possible to diagnose the proper health condition of the plant and to know if and when the graphs indicate any kind of problem with the plant’s functioning (the display of graphs is a kind of “ECG test” of the plant’s activity).

Our units are online with tensiometer sensors located inside plant root systems in the ground, helping achieve good, efficient irrigation management in real time. The tensiometer sensors have very fast response times compared to other sensors available on the market thanks to the ceramic sensors located at the bottom of the tensiometers, which are very sensitive to soil water tension changes. This is a unique feature that characterizes all of Mottes’ units, thanks to which we have achieved our great reputation in Israel and around the world.

A unique communication system in the field uses very low amounts of energy and maintains a continuous display on the website thanks to an “encoded SMS” method of transmitting and transferring data, an exclusive feature that exists only in our systems.
The system can be installed at a low height, transmit continuously, and is able to provide itself with internal energy without requiring the installation of a solar panel. Our internet software was built and programmed especially to provide a comprehensive solution for all the necessary issues when using the data obtained from the sensors.
